Ohn/Fuji at Sunset, After a Late Afternoon Shower

This gorgeously elaborate kimono (with the elaborately long name of Ohn/ Fuji at Sunset, After a Late Afternoon Shower) shows a brilliant summer sunset softly reflected in a rainbow of colors on Fuji’s white-capped crown. Pockets of melting snow are enhanced by embroidery. Ink-drawn flowers in the tsujigahana style flow down the mountain and are also seen in the lower terrain exposed by the clouds. The well-known Noh actor Kyutaro Hasioka IX wore this kimono in an Itchiku Noh performance that took place at the Itchiku Kubota Art Museum in 2001.
