Byou/Beginning of Winter on the Lake

The glorious image on Byou/ Beginning of Winter on the Lake sweeps the eyes of the viewer from the hidden depths of the bitter cold lake to the triumphant brilliance of sunset on the waters. The profound deepness of the water is expressed through the rich and varied dyes of ultramarine, turquoise, and teal mixed with greens of many hues. The silvery reflection of light on the sunlit water is enhanced by lines of embroidery, some carried out in white silk, others in strips of metallic foil. The ripples created over the deepest watery depths are also enhanced with touches of embroidery. Gold threads woven into the ground fabric provide a further touch of reflective light to the design.
