Kou/ Twixt Autumn and Winter
Large areas of Kou/ Twixt Autumn and Winter were lightly tied but left undyed to best create a sense of the new snow as it slowly obscures the mountain’s slopes. Other areas are not tied or dyed at all, offering contrast by their elegant smooth and silky surfaces broken only by intermittent tiny projections created by supplemental threads woven into the base textile. The densely tie-dyed section on the left side of the kimono has been only lightly dyed and enhances the sensation that the brilliant autumnal shades peeking from behind the kimono sleeve are slowly giving way to winter as snow continues to fall.
