Kyoku/Spellbound Anticipations

The agitated eddies of Tou/ Eddies find more restful waters in Kyoku/ Spellbound Anticipations. The waters, even the clouds, seem at rest, almost as though time were suspended as they await the next seasonal change. The design is quietly enchanting, and only a master dyer’s hand could create this wealth of mysterious hues. Kubota, with his painterly eye, used sophisticated variations in color and tone to capture the simple beauty and changing rhythms of slowly moving water currents. The reflection of winter light off the water starts from the foreground and culminates in a dense band of white swirls where the sea meets the horizon.
