Rurikon/ Lingering Memories of the Emerald Moment of the Lake

In this richly coloured design, mountains and water reflect a lingering glow even after the setting sun has disappeared below the horizon. The delicate ink renderings characteristic of Itchiku tsujigahana carpet the crimson slopes of the mountains.

A golden evening glow lights the bright clouds as the sun disappears beyond the mountains in Rurikon/ Lingering Memories of the Emerald Moment of the Lake. The gentle slopes are carpeted with the delicately drawn ink renderings of Itchiku’s tsujigahana floral motifs. Kubota created an especially elegant painterly impression in this design through careful dyeing of the lake’s delicately hued gentle currents in the foreground of the kimono. His design is further enhanced by random weft irregularities in the ground fabric, a technique that created subtly mottled surfaces for both water and sky. This fabric was specially commissioned by Kubota to give additional texture and character to the overall design presentation.
